I am actually fairly happy about the banner because I did some things I usually don't do and they seem to work. Brushes, making one pic look like half painted, the colour overlay in the centre, using same pic multiple times. That last one simply because I haven't made screenshots yet so those two are all I have, lol. Still, it's another step forward for me, which is nice

EDIT: Changed the font, but it's still not awesome so lemme know if you have suggestions

Thanks a lot! I see too that I improve, which is rather cool. The only other times that Ive seen that is when I didnt make anything for a couple months or so and then started again and it looked better than my older stuff, but everything in that stint looked the same (am I making sense?)

I am about to create another wallpaper, and I'll try to translate some of the banner stuff into it, but I don't wanna spend too long on it so we'll see how it goes.
I also probably will soon (this week) make my first non all-female wallpaper. I've always actually just made stuff of females, but I'm gonna be making a LotS wallpaper, since some of those new season promo's are awesome...I think they'll lend themselves like no other for a wallpaper.

Now if only there were 30 hours in a day....

And here finally is my new Kahlan wallpaper. I had the pictures blended on Sunday, but didn't do more then, not even colour curves. Didn't get around to doing it until today. Anyway, I think it turned out kinda nice. I used a lot of brushes, like 12 layers of it (I use a new layer for a new brush), so I wasn't too sure at first, but I think considering this is my first heavily brushed wallpaper, it looks good.

Btw, Alex, please post your creation soon, otherwise I'll have to rename this thread the 'Bastiaan's show off thread' since I seem to be the only one who has posted 'art' in here and I don't like naming things after me

Thanks. I actually submitted both Kahlan walls to 2 sites: a bridget regan one and a legend of the seeker one, and now those walls are on both those sites! Of course I'm not sure what their criterium is, so maybe anything that doesn't look ridiculous gets in, but still...

I will be focusing on creating LotS wallpapers for a little while, probably. Unless I find some other awesome pics. I shouldn't actually have time for it though...

I made good on my word, and made a LotS wallpaper. I'm planning on first creating on for every main character and then combining characters in one wallpaper. The first one I made was of Cara. Purely because of those pics I knew exactly how I wanted to use em. Wasn't as smooth as I had hoped though, I ended up having to erase the background which apparently isn't that simple since for some reason the colours of the background and the edge of the suit sorta blended together so I didn't know exactly what to erase

Now I really should focus on thesis and papers, so I probably won't be making anything for the next 2-3 weeks or so. Then again, haven't I said that before...?

Anyway, here's the wallpaper. Made it 2 standard sizes: 1600x1200 (1:1.333) and 1680x1050 (1:1.6). Hope you like

And one of the male main character. This wallpaper was a nightmare to create, nothing I wanted would fit or I could make it fit. Other than the little thing on the top right. I had one pic I really wanted to use but I didn't cos there was no way without taking a few days to get it in nicely. So I came up with this instead. I wanted a different font, and I found some, but for some reason windows couldn't install them. Since it was already 2am I just went with this one instead

I've made another wallpaper last night while listening to 30 seconds to Mars' new album a few times (happy Ang? ), so this wallpaper is somehow influenced by them. I kinda like it but I HAAAATTTTEE (hate) finding the right font cos it's so hard and it often takes longer than the rest. I made like 6 wallpapers with different fonts and different opacities of those fonts before I said enough is enough and thought this would have to do. Hope you think this one's ok. Or good. Or perfect....It's all shiny to me

I love the photo's, btw. I believe they were made by Matt Beard. He did a number of others as well (most of which sadly I can't find in HQ, so I couldn't use em in this wallpaper...maybe in another...I'll see). I very much like the composition of those photo's, so I will try to keep his name in mind when searching for photo's again

Anyway...after another bit of evidence for why I rightfully deserve the title 'Essayman'...here is my wallpaper:

Thank you, thank you. We've got two things here. One is maybe my greatest achievement in a long long time!! And the other is the wallpaper I'm bummed though that I can't find my 'beautiful lie' album. Like I said, I actually like this wallpaper as well. I love the composition and the colours for which I can't take much credit other than for choosing these pics. I don't often come across photoshoots that actually have backgrounds and poses that are not entirely standard and actually make the photo as a whole a bit better. If you have no idea what I'm saying...ok. If you do...please tell me what I'm saying so I can understand it better

When I have the time I may be making one or two other Kim wallpapers and I've still gotta do some Legend of the Seeker ones (incl the grey old wizard one...). Of course I shall post those here again, whether you like it or not...muhaha. (sorry I've got a major headache right now, so I'm in a strange mood. I may actually get something for it, it's that bad)

I also never posted my Ziva David wallpaper. It's the first one I made on my new computer. I didn't really have time to finish it, so I quickly came up with the grey in the center and actually decided to leave it like that. It's not a complete rush job or whatever, but I also didn't spend the time on it that I might have needed. It still turned out ok I think:



And finally the reason I came to post: I just finished my 3rd Bridget Regan wallpaper. This is (obviously) a non character wallpaper of her. Made it in 3 sizes: widescreen, laptop and desktop. Made em this big, cos my monitor uses 1920x1080 . I was listening to Bon Iver for this wallpaper, and I think I've never used this style before. I like how I somehow mix it up, I think it's cos of the music too. So I've been listening to Bon Iver's album and EP basically all day long. Cos I ain't stupid: no changing the music while you're working on a wallpaper!

Ok, update with some stuff. For a contest I've created a Kim Caldwell wallpaper (How's yours coming, Ang? ). I 'finished' it yesterday, but wanted to try to add some patterns and brushes today (although it might not have needed them) and change the font. I added the patterns and brushes and that looked good, but I couldn't find a way to improve the font. I was about ready to use the not-so-good font and then I thought it might look nice if I made them look like gold/silver instead of just goldish/silverish colour. So I did that and it made me a bit happier

I also made a Legend of the Seeker av, which kinda sucks (took me like 5 mins) and 2 sigs. The first one took me like 90 mins and is rather rubbish and the 2nd took 15 mins and I quite like that one.

Ok, enjoy, and your comments are always welcome. The Kim one is like 1.5MB (1600x1200) so I've made a smaller (1024x768) version is lower image quality that's only 150kb

And I just made another (requested) sig. Got it in 3 slightly different versions. I'm not sure I like the tear thing, but I'm not sure I dislike it either This sigs took me less than 30 mins, incl figuring out how to best to the tear. A little background info: In this ep, named "Torn", our favourite Confessor gets her personality split in half, literally. So we have 2 Kahlans running around suddenly (doesnt sound too bad), whit one being like a puppy and the other a ruler with no room for emotions.

Maybe. But this is actually a very simple sig. I'm glad I now feel less obligated to create a nice background and use brushes and what not. This is just 2 pics blended using the eraser tool. ANd of course colour curve manipulation and contrast and gaussian blur and a bit of text. But that's all there is to it. My 'client' also liked it, or so he said. I was the first to make something following his request, so he might still switch if someone else comes up with a better sig

I actually like these kind of sigs the best. This and the Con Dar one are relatively simple in that I don't use elaborate (brush) patterns. I just find the pics that work well together and blend them.

I did also create a Eliza Coupe (from Scrubs) wallpaper, which I won't share (since I don't want to impose on bandwidths). It really sucks. But in my defense, I only found 1 picture big enough that looked great to use. For some reason her Scrubs photoshoot makes her look weird. And not in a good way. And the pic I did use still had to be made bigger than it originally was. But I just had to make something feauturing her. For some reason I find her extremely attractive

I'm still planning on creating a dozen wallpapers and sigs and avs, but I don't really have the time. And Bridget Regan keeps going to some festivals and everytime she does, I feel I have no choice but add a wallpaper of that appearance to my list as well.

Maybe I'll find some time next week though. And of course I'll share that here again then

I've made another 2 sigs today, from another character of Legend of the Seeker: Nicci. The first one was a request, but when I started thinking about the sig, I had the vision of the 2nd one in my head, so I made that too. The first one is a bit crowded, I think. I made about 4 versions of the 2nd one, changing only the text (not even the font). I've posted 2, cos I really don't know which one to post

Anyway, I hope you like em. The next thing I'll make really should be a Missy Peregrym banner for my site, since Rookie Blue has premiered. I wanna revamp the whole site, but I don't have time for it. I only had time to make 2 sigs, cos I'm not feeling too great so I won't be participating in the experiment tonight (and won't get paid )

It's been a long time, but I finally made another Missy wallpaper. I didn't have HQ images of Rookie Blue, so the image quality isn't perfect. It's a very simple wallpaper, but with Missy what else do you need? Hope you like it! It's in 3 sizes again: desktop (1600x1200), laptop (1920x1200) and widescreen (1920x1080). Enjoy!

Anyway, I've just made a (rather simple) wallpaper of Jaimie Alexander, who starred in the show "Kyle XY", in case you've seen it. HQ pics of her are rather hard to find, it seems, but I did find a couple. I might make another wallpaper with the other pics soon, but I might not. Depends on how busy I am and how creative
