Other MMA & Fighters
Gina isn't the only fighter, so use this thread to chat about any other MMA news and fighters. What's your favorite MMA website? Favorite male fighters? Anything goes...
Re: Other MMA & Fighters
Seriously guys and girls - no one like any other fighters? Okay then, to get this thread started: What do you think of Cyborg? Please don't be disrespectful though.
I think she's a force to be reckoned with. She's brutal in her fights, and gives everything of herself in the cage - a mark of a true fighter. I don't know her personally, but she seems like a decent human being.

I respect Cyborg, sure. She is a force to be reckoned with. But she's not a favourite fighter of mine..
Let's talk male fighters...Fedor is awesome, as is Mike Brown. I also quite like Nate the Great. I don't much enjoy watching Dutch fighters like Hardonk or Yvel, actually. It seems like they move like 10 times as slow as the others and just stand there in front of em. And then get knocked out...Oh my, I wonder why. I do like Stefan Struve, though. He's a bit different in this regard.

I think Cyborg is awesome, I know she beat our girl Gina but you can't help but feel impressed and end up respecting her, she's an animal and also as good an ambassador for womens MMA.
As for other fighters I'm fully on the Frank Mir bandwagon, a fighter coming back from a near-crippling accident to regain the interim gold over Nogeuira, beat Kongo in little over a minute, constantly improve and on top of all that still be a grounded family man deserves to be respected imo. Also a big Nate Diaz fan ''

I remember seeing Sadollah against Baroni, I think. Seeing as I still remember his name, he has made somwhat of an impression on me too
Re: Other MMA & Fighters
Gegard Mousasi Yeh, he's pretty good. He's sorta Dutch, born in Armenia, apparently. He doesn't have a very Dutch name
Re: Other MMA & Fighters
Cyborg, I don't like her fighting style but she seems like a nice and determined fighter. I just don't think she has much technique in her fighting at all... it seems to me that she just goes in there and throws some punches, just a total powerhouse. But that can get you a win, it just isn't how I would fight and I can't stand it when I can't see any kind of technique and/or game plan from the fighter.
Amir, I LOVE him! Not only is he from my hometown (well I'm about 30 minutes away from Richmond), but he has some sick muy thai skills! He seems really down to earth, humerous and determined... just an overal great fighter. I think he has a lot of potential in the sport and I'm looking forward to seeing future fights.
My all time favorite fighter is Chuck Liddell - I have him to thank for getting me into the sport of MMA. Recently he hasn't been at his best in the sport, suffering from some major losses. I do believe, though, that he will bounce back, just like Randy Couture has. It just takes some time and hopefully everyone will the kind of "old school" Chuck Liddell.
How about GSP? I adore him as a person, from what I see from interviews and such, and definitely as a fighter. Pierre is a phenomenal fighter and just like everyone says, he just keeps improving with each and every fight. I definitely can't wait to see his fight in March, I'm dying to see it! I'm definitely going to put aside some money from my paycheck and request off of work just so I can see it. (: aha.

Did anyone see the fight between Cris Santos and Marloes Coenen? I think it was a good fight, and I respect Coenen a lot more after that. Cris was really strong in that fight. Erin Toughill will probably challenge Cris Santos next -- I'd like to see that.
Maybe Gina will fight Coenen when she comes back.
What does everyone else think about that fight?
GSP for me, BTW -- for more than the tight shorts

Re: Other MMA & Fighters
Yes, I enjoyed the Cyborg and Coenen fight. I have a lot of respect for Coenen, she gave it her all and I could see all the heart that she was putting into that fight. I still don't like Cyborg, simply because of her fighting style, but that's that. Most importantly, I am very impressed that it went 3 rounds, and almost into a 4th. That has got to tell people that women fighters are just as determined as men and maybe it'll make up for the Gina and Cyborg fight. Don't get me wrong though, I did enjoy Gina's fight, but it didn't go very far and it just didn't seem like Gina in that fight to me.
I still can't wait to see Gina in action again, I miss seeing her fight.

Re: Other MMA & Fighters
I was actually not that impressed with Coenen. Sure, it went into the 3rd round, which shows Coenen has stamina. But I also thought Cyborg was more calculated this time, fought a little more using her brains. She didn't come out like a wild animal that much. Other than the length of the fight, Coenen was completely dominated in my opinion, much more than Gina. Cyborg had the better of the striking and Coenen wasn't able to take her down (other than pulling guard). The big difference between Coenen and Gina on the ground was that Coenen did very well to try and avoid Cyborgs punches, whereas Gina kinda covered up and took them. For me Coenens highlight was one punch that hit Cyborg fairly good, but didn't seem to have any effect. I hope Cyborgs next opponent will at least put her in some disadvantageous positions
Re: Other MMA & Fighters
There doesn't seem to be an opponent who could humble Cris Cyborg at this time. Her latest opponent is Jan Finney -- it was a brutal TKO. Erin Toughill might have a chance against her, but that fight was cancelled.
If ever a rematch will happen between her and our G, Id want G to have at least 3 tune-up fights to strengthen her game and boost her confidence. What do you guys think?

Re: Other MMA & Fighters
My favorite male MMA fighter is either Rashad Evans or Kimbo Slice....I'm going to watch the UFC event coming up with Lesnar vs Carwin....I hope Carwin kicks Lesnar's butt, I cant stand Lesnar and his disrespect.
